Camera sales rankings are back in full swing. Multiple companies are fighting for the top 3 spots, and for the month of September, we have an unlikely winner. No, it’s not an APS-C camera but rather the comeback of a legendary brand, Hasselblad. Have a look at which comes camera atop and which haven’t.
According to a report by Camera Capa Web, the Yodoshiba camera, one of Japan’s biggest retailers, has announced its September sales record. Per the report, Hasselblad is back in trend, and it is giving tough competition to many other Japanese manufacturers. Here is a look at the list:
- Hasselblad X2D II 100C Body
- Sony α7C II Zoom Lens Kit
- Fujifilm X-M5 XC15-45mm Lens Kit
- Sony α7C II Body
- Canon EOS R5 Mark II Body
- Canon EOS R50 Double Zoom Kit
- Sony VLOGCAM ZV-E10 II Double Zoom Lens Kit
- Nikon Z50II Double Zoom Kit
- Sony VLOGCAM ZV-E10 II Power Zoom Lens Kit
- Canon EOS R6 Mark II Body
Hasselblad, Nikon, and Fujifilm have one model each. While it is understandable for Hasselblad, since they don’t launch cameras yearly, it is quite different for Nikon and Fujifilm. In fact, the latter managed to win the last time around. Similarly, Hasselblad, which was number 3, has now come on top.
This time, Sony has more models, standing at number 4, while Canon only has 3. As usual, it appears that the battle is often between the two, with others seem to have a few instances where they have more than two models.
From this list, we can see one medium format, three full frame and four APS-C models. Naturally, smaller sensors will be in demand, as they are more cost-effective and many young photographers can invest in them. However, a small part of the APS-C cameras is also very video centric, which showcases that people are keen on shooting moving images just as much.
The introduction of medium format only showcases that people are keen on larger sensors, but due to a limited number of models in this range, many stick to full frames. Perhaps, it could be because it’s a Hasselblad and not a Fujifilm.
Either way, the list showcases an exciting trend, one where both allows APS-C and larger format cameras to co-exist in one universe. If Hasselblad manages to get more exciting offerings soon, then perhaps, they will certainly shine again.
